Give Blood, Get Tickets to Tri-Cities Sporting Events

KENNEWICK, WA - The Tri-City Americans, along with the Tri-City Dust Devils and the Tri-Cities Fever, are proud to announce a combined effort to help raise support for the American Red Cross.

The American Red Cross Pacific Northwest Region has seen a significant drop in blood donations in the last month and desperately needs to restock their supply levels.  On average, the Region needs to collect at least 5,000 units of blood each week to meet hospital and patient demands.

"Historically, donations decline in the summer months as folks take vacation and spend time off with their families. However, patient demands remain the same," said Eric Brown, Chief Executive Officer of the American Red Cross' Pacific Northwest Regional Blood Services.  "We rely on the community's generous donation of blood to sustain our services, year round and during these difficult times. The American Red Cross would like to thank all three teams for their efforts in encouraging blood donations this summer and supporting the patients that we serve."

In response, all three of the Tri-City's professional sports teams have joined forces for the first time ever, and are launching the "Tri-Cities Ticket Frenzy" with the expectation of increasing the vastly depleted blood supply in the region.  Anyone that shows up to give whole blood or platelets on selected days will receive two tickets of their choice to three exciting sporting events, while supplies last:

  • Tri-Cities Fever's regular season home finale - Saturday, July 28;
  • Any remaining regular season home Tri-City Dust Devils' game;
  • Tri-City Americans' regular season home opener - TBA.

"The need for blood in this area is critical," said Brian Sandy, Tri-City Americans' Sr. Vice President of Business Operations and Member of the American Red Cross' Pacific Northwest Regional Board.  "The teamwork and enthusiasm to give from all the teams involved is truly heartwarming.  Our community never ceases to amaze me at their eagerness to give back and help their neighbors."

Those interested in setting up an appointment to give blood need to call the American Red Cross at 1.800.787.9691 or stop by their offices at 447 Wellsian Way in Richland.
