Parents Learn About New Phoenix High School in Kennewick
KENNEWICK, Wash. For many students the traditional high school setting does not accommodate their lifestyle such as teen parents, serious athletes and students looking for a different type of learning structure.
Tuesday night interested parents and students gathered at Southridge High School to learn about the new Phoenix High School starting up this fall.
The school has two different sections including on-campus and off campus learning.
Off campus includes an online curriculum where students do most of the work on the Internet and check in with local teachers once a week. Teacher Tracey Money said the program is not for everyone and that it takes a lot of self-discipline to complete these types of classes.
The on campus learning is focused on project-based work. The program is designed for students between 9th and 12th grades.
