New Emergency Center at Southridge High

KENNEWICK, Wash. -- The location of a Benton County Emergency Center is changing. The Center that was at Kiona-Benton High School has moved to Southridge because of construction at Ki-Be.

The Center is for people living near Hanford and the Columbia Generating Station. Emergency service officials say they have never had to use the Center but they want to be prepared just in case.

Benton County Emergency Services Steve Sautter says, "The work you do in advance is like money in the bank. You have the procedures in place, you have the people that know what to do, and you have the facility prepared."

All people affected living near Hanford and the Columbia Generating Station will be mailed a list of possible routes to Southridge. Sautter says right now Southridge is a temporary site but they are looking into making it permanent.
