Safety was the topic of a class at the Edison Street boat launch
With summer upon us it's important that the proper precautions are taken on the river. Personal water craft and boat safety was the topic of a class at the Edison Street boat launch on Sunday.
Instuctor Sean Holland thought now was a good time to have a class, especially after 7-year-old Cole Crazier had his legs broken at Columbia Park after being hit by a jet ski.
Holland says his class was on safety and some educating that people don't receive when they buy watercrafts from the dealership. He says they're given a video to watch and most people don't do that. Holland thinks people need more personal training so that they take it more seriously.
Holland says it's important that people on the water be careful. Starting in January 2008 it will be mandatory for boaters to obtain a license before they operate their water craft. Holland will be holding another safety class in August.
