COLFAX, Wash. (AP) - The destruction of blood samples taken from former fugitive Fred Russell was an accident and did not warrant a formal investigation.
That's according to state toxicologist Barry Logan today during a hearing in Colfax.
Russell, who was extradited from Ireland and faces three counts of vehicular homicide, is seeking to have the blood test results thrown out because his defense team cannot independently analyze them.
The results showed he was legally drunk when he caused the auto accident that killed three Washington State University students and injured three others.
