What's it like driving an unlimited hydroplane cross country? Just ask U-3's Ed Cooper
TRI-CITIES, Wash. - Owner Ed Cooper and his wife drove the U-3 Chrysler Jeep unlimited hydroplane all the way from Evansville, Indiana. It arrived in the Tri-Cities Tuesday night and will stay at Parrish Plumbing until Friday.
Dragging the 14 and a half foot boat across the highways to get here isn't easy. "We stay out of drive throughs," said Cooper.
14 unlimited hydroplanes are expected to be in the Tri-Cities for the weekend's Water follies... plus four vintage hydroplanes.
The U-6 Oh Boy! Oberto/Miss Madison will arrive on Wednesday and make an appearance at the KNDU-TV studios for the 5 & 6pm news broadcast along with the vintage Miss Thriftway.
The U-9 Conover Insurance is scheduled to arrive on Wednesday as well as the brand new U-21 Freedom Racing boat, which will be at Meyers' Auto Tech from 4-6pm.
KNDO/KNDU LIVE COVERAGE starts Friday at 5pm with live coverage of the Vintage Race and Unlimited Hydroplans Dash for Cash at 5:20pm. Then a full day of live racing from 10am-5pm on Sunday. On-air broadcast will be simulcast as a live stream on HydroInsider.com
