They believe it is not their responsibility to be taxed for the new Southridge Hospital, a hospital they say they won't use.
The proposed new tax would cost 63 cents per thousand dollars worth of land value. People for and against the tax spoke out Thursday night.
In the end, the KGH Hospital Board voted unanimously to not de-annex the South Richland residents who would raise about a million dollars a year for the new Southridge Hospital.
Many South Richland residents are starting a petition to try to change the Board's mind. $86 of the $128 million for the new hospital would be raised by the hospital tax.
