Police Say Crime was Normal at Columbia Cup

KENNEWICK, Wash.- Police say crime at Columbia Park during the Water Follies wasn't out of the ordinary.

Kennewick Police arrested about 50 people for a variety of violations, mostly using alcohol outside designated areas.

Five people were arrested for possession of marijuana, but no violent crime was reported.

"A lot of people that went down there had a good time, abided by the laws, and that's exactly what we're trying to do down there is create a safe environment where people can come down and watch the boat races and enjoy themselves," said Sgt. Scott Child with the Kennewick Police Department.

Kennewick Police say teams of bicycle officers helped increase their presence at the park and probably helped keep things under control.
