Kennewick Police Accepting Applications for Reserve Officers

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash. - The Kennewick Police Department is in need of Reserve Officers and say now is the time to sign up.

Before becoming a volunteer reserve officer, you have to complete the Reserve Academy Training at Columbia Basin College.  It doesn't start until January but officers ask that you sign up early.

Each candidate will complete a physical agility test, a criminal background check and the same training as any regular police officer.

"If you look at their uniform and my uniform, they're exactly the same. Their badge says police officer so they are expected and are able to do any sort of police situation," says Ken Lattin with the Kennewick Police Department.

Every agency throughout the region has their own reserve academy.   Most agencies require you be at least 21 years old, a US citizen and a resident of the area your applying in.

Just contact your police department if your interested.
