Mental Competency Hearing Coming Up For Kennewick Man Accused Of Murder

KENNEWICK, Wash. - Lawyers are still trying to figure out if a Kennewick man accused of murder is mentally fit to stand trial.

Prosecutors accuse 20-year-old Igor Samolyuk of stabbing his wife to death last summer.

Tuesday lawyers set a new date for a hearing to determine if Samolyuk is mentally competent.

His defense lawyer said a doctor from Harborview Medical Center will interview Samolyuk and his family members.

The Benton County Prosecutor wanted to go on record saying this case is taking too long.

The new hearing is set for August 30th.
