RICHLAND, Wash.- Thousands of workers at Pacific Northwest National Lab know more about their future.
The Department of Energy has ended an 18-month battle over who'll get the next contract to run the lab by extending Battelle's contract for up to two years. The original contract was set to expire in September.
Battelle issued this statement in response to the agreement today: "We're eager to get on with that process and show DOE that Battelle is still the best organization to operate PNNL."
The extension is only for up to two years. DOE is still waiting to send out draft requests for the final proposal for the lab.
