National Tire Recall

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash.--Tire brands being recalled are Westlake, Compass, YKS and Twere. State Attorney General Robert Mckenna says these tires can easily lose their tread creating a dangerous situation.

Out of 270,000 tires sold across America, about 2,000 tires are believed to be in Washington. Mechanics across our area are urging people to check their tires.

"Tire inflation and condition is vital to the life of the vehicle, the safety of the occupants especially," says Mechanic Ralph Blair. It's a good idea to check your tires periodically.

Blair recommends inspecting your tires between every couple of fill-ups. If you have any of the brand names in question, immediately contact the dealer where you purchased them and have them thoroughly inspected.

Here are specific tire numbers and sizes being recalled.
