Summer and Strange Crimes

Posted: Updated:
KENNEWICK, Wash.--An incident behind me at Kennewick's Sunrise Villas Apartments combined with a number of vehicle burglaries early this morning are a reminder to police that summer is still here.

The first incident involves 24-year-old Christopher Britton. Police say he broke into at least ten cars, stealing items near 4th Avenue and Green Street in Kennewick.. and started throwing them into neighbors yards.

Police add that Britton continued his burglary spree, walking across 395 and breaking into more cars near West Kennewick Avenue and Sharron street.

Across town, a resident at Sunrise Villas Apartments called police after hearing 33 year-old Antonio Rodriguez yelling.. and removing window screens of a neighboring apartment.

Police say he thought his friend lived there. When police arrived they caught Rodriguez sleeping on the couch, drunk.

"People are, do have a tendency to drink a whole lot more in the summertime, plus there's some other things, the weather is nice, people are outside more, people have their windows open so they hear what's going on outside," said Ofc. Allan Knox.

Kennewick police also say these types of crimes are preventable. People need to make sure vehicle doors are locked, and if spending a night out on the town, be aware of how much alcohol you are consuming.
