Early Sunday Shooting Leaves one Man Dead Another Charged With Murder
Othello, WA- Early Sunday morning the Othello Police Dispatch Received a 911 call from and adult male who reported that there had been a shooting at 225B East Elm Street in Othello. The caller reported that there were to injured persons involved and that the firearm was a 44. Caliber.
Responding officers located two adult males in the apartment and insured it was safe for responding Emergency Medical personal from the Othello Community Hospital. One of the males, identified as Jorge Luis Lopez Montanez age 32 of Othello was pronounced dead on the scene. The other male identified as James Roman age 67 also of Othello was taken by ambulance to the Othello Community Hospital where he was examined, treated for minor injuries and released.
Investigation at the scene led to the arrest of James Roman who was lodged in the Ritzville jail charged with murder in the second degree.
The Washington State Crime Scene investigation unit from Cheney Washington was called to process the crime scene. Two investigators from the Cheney area and one from Kennewick arrived approximately 4:20 a.m. and were at the crime scene for 7 hours.
