Yakima City Council "elated" After Central Pre-mix Opens
YAKIMA, Wash - Yakima city council members are relieved the Central Pre-Mix plant is operating.
They say there are several sidewalks on Yakima Avenue that are ready for concrete. As well as housing developments around the area that are in need of concrete for foundations.
Councilmember Bill Lover says he's glad the city won't have to choose one project over the other now.
"I was elated because I started to think we were going to prioritize in concrete, were our sidewalk going to hold the priority? We wanted them to be and with [Central Pre-mix] up and running we don't loose a thing," says Lover.
Lover also says city leaders had been talking with other concrete suppliers just in case Central Pre-mix was closed longer.
