Kids Throwing Rocks from an Overpass Near Badger Canyon
BENTON CITY, Wash.--A group of kids was reportedly seen throwing rocks at cars from an overpass on I-82 today near the Badger Canyon exit.
State patrol responded to the area but didn't find any of the suspects. Troopers say there's a lot of houses and kids on both sides of the overpass.
Its not uncommon to see these types of crimes, especially around Halloween. That's when people throw pumpkins off of overpasses. It's sometimes viewed as a prank, but one with potentially deadly consequences.
"Anytime anybody throws anything off of an overpass, its potentially very hazardous," according to Trooper Grant Smith. If the car impacts that item, no matter how big or small the item, however fast the cars traveling is how fast the impact is."
Trooper smith says anyone caught throwing things from an overpass into traffic will face charges anywhere from malicious mischief to more serious penalties including murder if it results in a deadly accident.
