SILVERDALE, Wash. - Kayleigh Perkins, the sport's only female driver, won her first race in an unlimited light.  It was a race of attrition in the finals, which had to be restarted after an accident.

Greg Hopp in the UL-1 and Kayleigh Perkins in the UL-72 were battling it out in the finals at Silverdale's unlimited lights race.  Hopp was driving the boat with the longest name we've seen in a while:  The UL-1 Festool Supply NW/Graham Trucking GT/Happy Go Lucky.  Perkins was driving the UL-72 Miss Boat Electric.

Vince Xadauro, Kimaikin High School grad, in the UL-929 Poulsbo PC & Technology presents Fife RV hit a roller and went nose first into the water.  Both sponsons were ripped right off the hull.  The damage was severe, but Vince was OK.

In the restart, the UL-14 Compuware's Miss Critical Logic malfunctioned cutting the seven boat field down to five.

But it was the same story as Perkins and Hopp were battling it out down the stretch.  Hopp ran off to an early lead and held it until the final lap.  Perkins managed to close the gap and then it was Hopp's turn for problems.  He threw a prop.  He shut the boat down and could only watch as Perkins racked up her first victory in the unlimited lights.
