FRANKLIN COUNTY, Wash. -- Franklin PUD is loaning out $300,000 in loans to help new businesses grow and develop in Franklin County.
Isidro Ortiz has already used a Franklin PUD loan to open a new Fiesta Restaurant off of Road 68 in Pasco. His and a Connell small business owner have already recieved $100,000 in loans.
Franklin PUD plans to use the interest on the loans to keep the program going. Ortiz says more Franklin County businesses should take advantage of the low interest rates that Franklin PUD is offering.
Ortiz says, "Most of the people don't really know about this program. It's a great advantage that you need to take, especially a small business that can't really afford or qualify for a huge bank loan."
Franklin PUD can write off 50% of the money it spends on economic development, worth a maximum of $25,000 dollars a year.
