"Fill the Boot" Raising Money for Muscular Dystrophy

Posted: Updated:
KENNEWICK, Wash.--Firefighters from across the Tri-Cities were out on the streets today trying to "Fill the Boot."

Kennewick firefighters stood at this corner on Clearwater and Morain for 8 hours today, trying to raise money for Jerry's Kids, an organization that raises money for Muscular Dystrophy.

One-by-one, firefighters approached cars in the intersection. Drivers say they were happy to give.

Last year, nationwide, the International Association of Firefighers (IAFF) raised $22 million dollars for Muscular Dystrophy. At 1:00 p.m. today, firefighters say they received close to $3,000 dollars in donations.

A majority of the proceeds raised in today's effort will benefit those affected with the disease in our area. Money will help pay for their medical care, transportation costs, even flu shots.
