Yakima Man Airlifted to Seattle Hospital After Horseback Riding Accident
YAKIMA COUNTY, Wash. - Nile Cliffdel Fire responded A 64 year old male from Yakima who was in a horseback riding accident near Crow Creek Lake yesterday afternoon.
The man was camping and horseback riding when the horse he was riding reared, then rolled down a slope. The horse rolled over the man, causing serious injury.
Nile Cliffdel Fire requested assistance from the Yakima County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue. 20 volunteers responded. When medical personnel arrived, they determined that an air lift extraction was needed.
The man was airlifted by helicopter to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
At this time he is being treated in the emergency room. He is in stable condition and is reported to have suffered a L 1 lumbar fracture and a fracture to the right fibula.
The man's family has been notified, but they ask that no names be released. KNDO will bring you updates as they come in.
