Local Businesses Look to Bring More Tourism to Yakima Valley
TOPPENISH, Wash - Staff at Heritage University in Toppenish hosted a seminar to help local businesses boost tourism in the area.
Mark Miller, a University of Washington professor who specializes in sustainable tourism, told different owners of wineries, casinos and hotels to work as a team and set goals together. eople attending agree.
"When one area increases the visitors to the area, then other areas benefit. So if we can all work together, pool our money and our ideas, promote each other, the we all benefit," explained Shannon Bird, a leader with the Rattlesnake Hills Wine Trail.
Other ideas discussed were to make clear boundaries of places to attract more visitors to Yakima to the Tri-Cities.
