WASHINGTON.,--State Patrol is on the lookout for drunk drivers this Labor Day weekend..
Troopers say drinking and driving kills hundreds of people every year across the country. They warn drivers to plan ahead this holiday weekend.
Last Labor Day weekend, troopers took 11 people off the roads for driving under the influence (DUI) in the Tri-Cities. They say that number is typical for most weekends.
"People have one extra day to kinda go out and party or go out and have a longer get together then they would on a typical weekend so, we do get a few more problems on a longer weekend than on a typical one," says Trooper Dave Wilbur.
Troopers say people need to have a designated driver when they go out drinking. And that paying for a taxi is a lot cheaper than getting a DUI.
