KENNEWICK, Wash. -- People had their chance to voice their opinion on a proposed new criminal justice tax Wednesday night at the Benton PUD Auditorium at 7pm.
The new tax would include a 0.2% of a percent increase and would fund a variety of criminal justice programs, including putting more police on the streets and improving the Benton County mental health program.
Wednesday's meeting is the first of five in the next three weeks around Benton County. County leaders in law enforcement, mental health, and the prosecutor's office will be there to answer people's questions and explain the proposed tax, which will be on the November ballot.
