Bill Moore finds more unlimited hydroplane parts in the Columbia River
Moore and friends celebrating after finding the U-8 Llumar prop in July
Bill Moore's been at it again.
In July of this year, he recovered a propeller from the bottom of the Columbia River after a series of dives. The prop was from the U-8 Miss Llumar and lost in 2004 in the river. It was returned to the U-37 Beacon Plumbing racing team and they were able to put it back on the boat and use it this season.
Moore's been back diving in the Columbia again in the Tri-Cities and has had more success.
He reports finding another propeller. Ed Cooper's U-3 lost its prop in this year's Columbia Cup races, but Moore doesn't think that's the one he found on his latest dive. Video of the race where the U-3 lost the prop is on the right.
Moore also found a strut, a couple of prop blades, a rear stablizer bar, and a hatch cover.
"It was just a labor of love," said Moore after finding the U-8 prop back in July. "It was something that I think about almost every day - like how I am gonna find this what can I do to better narrow the search down. And now, I actually accomplished that dream of finding it."
