Sniffing out illegal drugs

YAKIMA, Wash - Dogs from all over the state came to the Yakima County Fair Grounds Tuesday to look for drugs.

About twenty police K-9 drug teams took part in a mock search of a building looking for illegal narcotics.

Each dog cost thousands of dollars to train and house -- and the dogs are used almost every day, helping officers locate marijuana, meth and cocaine in hidden compartments in cars, bags and buildings.

Today's exercise is just one of many training sessions for the dogs.
