YAKIMA, Wash -- Plans are in the works to dramatically expand the Yakima Valley Technical Skills Center.
YV Tech is building a new state-of-the-art campus on an empty lot on River Road, near Aspen Lake.
The school already teaches students skills for a number of jobs -- aviation mechanic, dental assistant and medical office assistant.
However, they want to add several new medical programs, but their classrooms on 15th Avenue are too small, so the school has submitted plans to the city for a new facility, almost tripling its size.
Administrators say with a new campus, they will be better able to support the new medical school in Terrace Heights.
School officials hope the design and permit process won't take more than a year, so they can start building next summer.
