OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) - Governor Chris Gregoire has approved a new central Washington wind farm, despite opposition from some Kittitas County residents.
The proposed Kittitas Valley Wind Power Project would build about 65 wind turbines in an area about 12 miles northwest of Ellensburg.
Regulators with the state's Energy Facility Site Evaluation Council have approved the project twice.
Gregoire asked for the second review earlier this year, and the council allowed wind turbines to be built farther away from neighboring homes.
