D.O.T. Plans For Improvements On The Blue Bridge For 2009
KENNEWICK, Wash. - The southbound end of the Blue Bridge in Kennewick is a constant headache for many drivers.
According to the Washington Department of Transportation, in the last four years there have been almost 400 accidents, which have left 152 people injured.
State officials are working on a plan set for 2009 that would bring relief to the congested area.
Daily commuter Riki Penney said, "It is hard to drive with all the semi's in the way and it would be easier if they had a different way because it backs up really fast. Everyone just speeds their way home just runs into each other."
D.O.T. officials report that a second through-lane for southbound US 395 traffic will be added to make the highway safer.
Since January 2007 there have been 26 accidents on the Blue Bridge.
