KENNEWICK, Wash. - The Americans got one final workout in Thursday before heading to Everett to open the regular season.
"We put in the work, and practice is getting boring," said Coach Don Nachbaur. "The guys are chomping at the bit to get the regular season. We start with three games in three nights on the road."
The Ams went just 2-4-1 during the preseason, but are ready to turn the page.
"Preseason gets kind of boring," said returning forward Drew Hoff. "The boys are itching to get to the regular season where it counts."
The Ams first home game is not until October 5th.
"We don;t have a lot of say on the schedule," said Nachbaur. "Nine of our first ten are on the road. We've got to endure it because it's a critical time of year."
The team doesn't expect to have last year's star player, Colton Yellow Horn, for the trip to Everett. He's tryinog out for the Tampa Bay Lightning's minor league affiliate in Norfolf, VA. If he doesn't make that team, he may return to the Americans.
