KENNEWICK, Wash.--It all started when 21-year-old Luis Garcia Jr. of kennewick showed up to the Kent Manor apartments drunk and with a gun.
Both police and the Criminal Apprehension Team (CAT) were waiting for him, but he and 21-year-old Jorge Gonzalez started running towards Woodland Park apartments across the street. Gonzalez and Garcia managed to get inside a 2nd floor apartment, even though police had the men at gunpoint.
"They tried to stop him, but they ran up into an apartment," says Kennewick police Sgt. Brian Swartswalter. They surrounded the apartment and they ended up negotiating to try and get them to come out."
Police arrested both Gonzalez and Garcia. Garcia was charged with Assault while Gonzalez was charged with resisting arrest.
A third suspect, a 16-year old girl was arrested for possessing a gun and switchblade knife. It's believed garcia placed the gun on the girl, thinking police wouldn't search her. A fourth person in the apartment was not charged and released to his parents.
