RICHLAND, Wash.--A truck traveling westbound on I-182 loses its trailer during the afternoon traffic rush.
It happened near the SR 240 and George Washington Way exits.
Washington State Patrol say the safety chains on the trailer did not hold properly. It caused the trailer to cross the median before coming to a stop just a few feet from eastbound traffic.
State patrol says it could have been a lot worse.
"Had he been going a little bit faster, it would have made a difference on how far the trailer went, definitely," says Trooper David Kaiser. It's unknown if it would have made it to the eastbound lanes or not."
The driver of the truck says he was going 50 mph because of a known bump in the road. Luckily, no one was injured.
The driver was issued a $124.00 ticket for defective equipment.
