Oxford House Helps Men and Women Get Lives Back on Track

KENNEWICK, Wash.--For men and women who have struggled with drug and alcohol addiction, Oxford House could be the answer for recovery.

Today, members of this house in Kennewick gave us a tour of their home. Seven women and two children live in the house.

Each member has to obey three rules.

    1) No drugs or alcohol

    2) They must pay their share of bills on time.

    3) No disruptive behavior.

One woman we spoke with said Oxford House gave her a new chance in life.

"It helped me to get my kids back, got my GED," says Sherri Gibbons. I'm going to college at CBC (Columbia Basin College) and its just given me a lot of structure."

Gibbons admits members of the house are more than just friends, their family.

She found out about Oxford House while in treatment.

Right now, she is studying Chemical Dependency at CBC and hopes to be a Substance Abuse Counselor in the near future.
