Selah Fire Causes Over $1,000,000 in Damages

SELAH, Wash - A massive fire in Selah causes over $1,000,000 in damage.

Over 20,000 wooden fruit bins caught fire at Matson Fruit, just off of I-82.  Thirty five firefighters were working to keep the flames under control.  Crews arrived just before five Sunday morning and say it was quite the scene.

"This fire was quite involved, it looked kind of like a pyramid that was engulfed in fire and it was visible from downtown Selah," says Lt. Ron Cline of the Selah Fire Department.

Fire officials are still trying to figure out the cause.

Metal brackets and screws that held the bins together is all that is left at the scene.

Matson Fruit owners say this won't hurt their business that much.  Their insurance should cover the cost and they can get extra bins from other fruit warehouses.
