Yakima Murder Started with Kidnapping, Suspects Vehicle Found
YAKIMA, Wash - New information in a Yakima murder that happened this weekend. Neighbors say 20-year-old Mario Amaro of Yakima was shot late Saturday night. Investigators were looking for a black 1997 Chevy Blazer that was seen driving away from the area. They believe two armed suspects were in the vehicle.
A spokesperson for the Yakima County Sheriff's Office has now confirmed the Blazer was stolen before the shooting and the owner kidnapped. When YSO deputies responded to the registered owner's house in the west valley area after the shooting, they found the front door kicked in. They say two suspects kidnapped the owner, stole the Blazer and drove to the 600 block of North 20th Avenue. At this location Amaro was shot and the owner of the Blazer escaped unharmed.
Around 5:00 Sunday night YSO leaders say the Blazer was recovered in the West Valley area, abandoned. The vehicle was taken by Yakima Police.
Investigators are still looking for two suspects described as hispanic men in their 20's, one is bald with facial hair.
