Easterbrook Picks Up GNAC Co-Player of the Week Award
SPOKANE, Wash. -- Central Washington University sophomore Amber Easterbrook (Kent, Wash./Kentwood HS) has been selected as the co-Player of the Week in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference for women's soccer, the conference office announced Monday. Easterbook shares this week's award with Katy McNutt of Northwest Nazarene.
Easterbrook, who did not play in Thursday's 3-1 loss to 16th-ranked Seattle, made eight saves against Montana State Billings and went the distance in the goal for the Wildcats in a 3-0 victory. She helped Central Washington earn its first GNAC win of the season and snap a five-game overall winless streak in the process.
Easterbrook is the first Wildcat to win GNAC Player of the Week honors since current teammate Lindsay Mitchell (Federal Way, Wash.) was the recipient of the award last season.
Central Washington will look to even its overall record this Friday (Sept. 28) as the Wildcats (4-5-2, 1-3-0 GNAC) visit Saint Martin's for a first-ever women's soccer meeting with the Saints. Central returns home on Sunday (Sept. 30) to take on Western Oregon at noon.
