SPOKANE, Wash. -- Central Washington University junior Marcie Mullen (Sedro-Woolley, Wash.) has been selected as the Co-Athlete of the Week in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference for women's cross country, the conference office announced on Monday. Mullen shares this week's award with Ashley Puga of Northwest Nazarene.

Mullen, who redshirted the 2006 cross country season, placed first overall for the second time in three races this season on Saturday at the 3rd annual Apple Ridge Run Cross Country meet in Yakima. She finished the five-kilometer race in a time of 19 minutes, 12 seconds, 41 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.

In addition to her victory on Saturday, Mullen was also the top finisher at the Wildcats' season-opening meet at Redmond, Wash., on Sept. 7.

The Central Washington cross country teams return to action this coming Saturday (Sept. 29), traveling to Salem, Ore., for the Willamette Invitational at Bush's Pasture Park.
