No. 6 Cal at No. 11 Oregon is the Pac-10's big game this week
The Pac-10 football schedule this week will feature a game between 2 of the conference's unbeaten teams ... number six-ranked California at number 11 Oregon.
But the homefield Ducks are listed as 5 1/2-point favorites over the Bears in Saturday's 12:30 p.m. contest in Eugene between two 4-0 teams that are 1-0 in the Pac-10 race. Cal beat Oregon 45-24 in Berkeley last season, when each team had 4-game winning streaks.
Cal coach Jeff Tedford worked four seasons as Oregon's offensive coordinator before being hired in Berkeley.
Number one Southern California and number 23 Arizona State are big favorites on the road. The Trojans are favored by 20 1/2 points against Washington at Husky Stadium in Seattle on Saturday at 5 p.m., while first-year coach Dennis Erickson's Sun Devils are 14 1/2-point favorites at Stanford on Saturday at 7 p.m.
Both schools are 1-0 in the Pac-10, with Arizona State off to a 4-0 start and USC at 3-0.
In the other two Pac-10 games on Saturday, UCLA is at Oregon State at 3:30 p.m. and Washington State is at Arizona at 6 p.m. The Bruins lead the early Pac-10 race with a 2-0 record after beating Washington 44-31 in the Rose Bowl last Saturday night.
Washington State is a 2 1/2-point underdog against an Arizona team that is off to a 1-3 start this season. The Wildcats beat the then number 25-ranked Cougars 27-17 last year in Pullman to snap a 4-game Washington State winning streak in the series. But the Cougars have won the teams' last three meetings in Tucson.
