City Of Richland Looking At A Timeline For Duportail Bridge Project
RICHLAND, Wash. - The City of Richland has a better idea of when construction could begin on the proposed Duportail Bridge project.
Last night the Richland City Council approved the city engineer's recommendations to pay for the bridge.
Staff said they now have the go-ahead to start seeking federal funding. If everything goes according to plan, construction could start as early as 2011.
"It will ultimately provide a connection from downtown all the way to the South side of Badger Mountain because our plans also have an extension of Queensgate that will go up and over the area there," said Stephen Stairs, Richland Civil Engineer.
City engineers list both the Duportail project and the project connecting Steptoe from State Route 240 to Interstate 82 as big priorities. Engineers said they will continue work with the City of Kennewick to complete the Steptoe extension.
