Mike Weber is leaving the FormulaBoats.com unlimited hydroplane racing team

After taking the U-1 national high points championship with rookie driver Mike Allen in 2006, two fast boats, and Jeff Bernard ready to go, it looked like another great season was in store for the FormulaBoats.com team.  But three crashes and injuries to Allen made it tough going all year.

And for crew chief Mike Weber, it would be his last season with the FormulaBoats.com team.  Weber confirmed he's leaving the team to spend more time enjoying life.

It was a tough season for the FormulaBoats.com team.   We asked Mike if he had any plans he wanted to share.  Here's what he said:

Let's see.... just off the top of my head, probably one or more of the following:

  1. A vacation with my wife (now that I have a few extra vacation days to spare)
  2. Racing with my daughter and her 1.5 Litre Stock.
  3. Maybe some 5 Litre racing with my son and a few good friends from New Orleans
  4. The Grand Prix class is coming back and I really miss those blown alcohol motors!
  5. I have a Vintage boat (the "Long Gone" built around 1970) that I am looking forward to restoring.
  6. I have a new boat shop that I have not had any time to finish.  24x40 and she's a beauty!
  7. A little more fun and a lot less stress!

"It's been fun!," he said.
