KENNEWICK, Wash. - Over 31 years as an NFL referee, Jim Tunney saw some of the world's best athletes, but they aren't the athletes he's most passionate about.
Tunney is a speaker for the Special Olympics, helping the branch raise money and awareness for over thirty years.
Special Olympics Washington was able to have Tunney as the keynote speaker at their fund raising breakfast Thursday morning in Kennewick. The professional speaker lives in California and love to spread the word about the benefits of helping the special Olympics.
"It's an IV in your arm, it juices you up and makes you feel really good," said Tunney. "You talk about steroids, this is the best steroid you can get. You talk about steroids this is the best pure steroid you can get. These kids think we're doing something for them, but they are doing more for us. The motivation is terrific."
