PASCO, Wash -- On Friday night,  Airman 1st Class Ambre Helland arrived home after a five month deployment in Iraq. Her plane landed in the Tri-Cities and she was greeted by family, friends, ACES, and Operation Thank You.

The Southridge graduate was also celebrating her 21st birthday. Besides being in Iraq, Helland was also in Gulfport, Mississippi when Hurricane Katrina hit and survived the devastation in a shelter.

Today, she says she is just glad to be home. She says, "I'm a little bit overwhlemed right now. On the plane they made the announcement and everybody cheered, even the people in first class. They welcomed me back. I'm a little bit overwhlemed but glad to be back."

While in Iraq, Ambre treated her younger sister, Hailey, to gifts and soon they will be headed to Hawaii for a sisters only vacation.

After a two week leave Ambre is going to Travis Air Force Base in Sacramento.
