YPAL Employee Could Seek Legal Action, Chief Affirms No Retaliation

Yakima, WA -    The attorney representing a former employee with the Yakima Police Athletic league says his client will likely pursue legal action against the city.

An investigator found that Yakima Police Officer Ben Hittle had treated Crystal Dodge disrespectfully, but also determined that Police Chief Sam Granato did not retaliate against her.

"As to whether we know what may be coming in the way of liability, we don't," says Yakima City Manager Dick Zais, "We don't have any claim at this time that has been served upon us and have taken steps to remedy that from occurring again."

Officer Hittle has issued a formal apology to Dodge.

Chief Granato released a statement today -- affirming that he did not retaliate against Dodge after her complaints.

He says he properly dealt with her allegations, and he hopes the Police Athletic League is not hurt by this investigation.
