Central Washington University Football Player Now Faces Two Rape Charges
ELLENSBURG, Wash - The Central Washington University football player arrested over week ago for rape is now facing a second rape charge. Josh Rojas pleaded not guilty to the first charge in court Monday.
When Rojas was at home last week, Snohomish County Sheriff's deputies informed him there was a warrant out for his arrest for another alleged rape last November in Ellensburg. Rojas then returned to Ellensburg and turned himself in.
A new bail has been set at $20,000 for the additional charges, he will be formally charged next Monday. Rojas has already pleaded not guilty in the first case. which allegedly happened about a week ago.
Central Washington officials have released this statement regaring the situation:
"CWU takes this matter very seriously. This is an Ellensburg Police matter. We take steps to ensure student safety at Central, working with local officials and having safety policies in place. We constantly review policies to ensure we are doing every thing we can to keep students safe."
Rojas is no longer allowed on campus, unless he gets permission from campus police or the student affairs office.
