West Valley neighbors upset over proposed development
YAKIMA, Wash -- A proposed housing development in West Valley has neighbors upset, and they have asked the Yakima City Council to change the road plan leading into the development.
The proposed Sierra Vista subdivision will be tucked away in the hills above Tieton Drive, near the intersection of 93rd and Walnut Avenues. The current plans call for one entrance into and out of the development, through small, quiet residential streets of a neighboring subdivision.
Residents of the adjacent development don't want all the extra traffic running through their streets.
"There is going to be one entrance and one exit." said Peter Crofton, "It would be nice if they would add another to go with it. Its just going to make this one even more congested."
Neighbors want an additional entrance added, ideally off of Chestnut Avenue or Tieton Drive.
The City Council has agreed to review the development plans, and will make a final decision later this month.
