LAKE CHELAN, Wash. - On September 29th, the Hydroplane and Raceboat Musuem held their annual "Fun Day" at Lake Chelan. Headquartered at the newly remodeled Caravel/Grandview on the Lake Resort owned by John Walcker (U-3 crew and Sponsor), five boats made the trek from Seattle to tear up the Lake as they have in years past,.
The 1960 Miss Burien, 1975 Oh Boy! Oberto, Vashon Unlimited's 1955 Miss Thriftway, Dixon Smith's 1962 Miss Bardahl and Barb Carpers' 1960 Miss Century 21 were on hand. The crane arrived on time and the boats hit the water around 10:30. In total, thirty-five rides were given in a five hour period. All boats performed well except for the Oberto which encountered engine trouble about half way through the day.
