KENNEWICK, Wash.--Over 100 manufacturers ascend on the Three Rivers Convention Center today.
Since 2003, the SmartMAP expo has evolved into the top manufacturing network event in the entire pacific northwest.
Many are here to highlight new SMART technologies and manufacturing techniques to the public. It also became an opportunity for businesses to network, even with their competitors.
Throughout the day, representatives and corporate executives took part in success seminars. Everyone we talked to admits the expo can only help local businesses.
"It's an opportunity to highlight what's in the Tri-Cities areas and in eastern Washington and help to drive the economy here, locally," says Terry Smith, Director of Engineering, INFINIA."
"We came over here to develop some business in the eastern Washington area and it gave us a great venue to bring our wears and meet a lot of the local manufacturers in this area," says Pamela Ridgeway, VP Sales & Marketing, Software 21.
"Our industry takes care of a lot of their industry," according to Owner of Pixelsoft Films LLC, Gary Hansen. Most of the time they don't know that a great website could exist."
"Alot of the vendors that we work with are also exhibiting at this expo today," says Lori Kaufman, Marketing Director of Cadwell Laboratories. And so we do this to support TRIDEC, to support our supplier and other vendors."
TRIDEC says they wanted the expo to focus more on manufacturers and less on service-providers. 112 exhibit booths were on display this year.
