PASCO, Wash.--Through its foundation, Columbia Basin College awarded over 100 scholarships today to students.
Scholarships totaled almost $170,000 dollars, a college record. The Gjerde center was packed as parents helped celebrate with their students. According to school officials, both private citizens and corporate donors give money to the college's foundation every year.
"It's really gonna help with all the tuition and books, college gets expensive," admits Sophomore Chelsea Allen."
"A $1,000 dollar scholarship really helped out alot, especially since CBC isn't too much so, it payed for about a third of my college for this year so, it's pretty helpful," says Freshman David Aguilera.
Since 1986, the foundation has handed out scholarships totaling more than $1,400,000 dollars to students.
