Arson suspect arrested in Whitley fuel fire

SPOKANE, Wash. - Spokane Fire Department Fire Investigators today arrested an individual believed to be responsible for the major fire that occurred at Whitley Oil Company on July 23rd.

Fire investigators arrested Timothy Lee Jacobs, age 19. According to police, Jacobs was shooting fireworks at the facility and started a fire that caused more than 20 million dollars of damage. Jacobs was arrested on charges of Arson in the 1st degree.

Spokane Fire Chief Bobby Williams said eye witnesses link the 19-year-old man to the scene, reportedly running from the area just seconds after the fire started.

Jacobs admits in a jailhouse interview that he's been in trouble  before, but he says police have the wrong guy, now.

According to Jacobs, he was doing laundry when the fire started, saw smoke a few miles away when he finished folding clothes and went to the area just to check out the commotion.
