Wind farm advocate tries to recall Kittitas County Commissioners
KITTITAS, Wash -- Three Kittitas County Commissioners could lose their jobs over their opposition of a controversial wind farm.
Desmond Knudson, a life long resident of Kittitas, filed recall charges against all three commissioners. He wants them removed because they're appealing Governor Christine Gregoire's decision to approve the Kittitas Valley Wind Power Project.
"Its a waste of tax payer money to appeal the Governor's decision," said Knudson.
However, Republican party leaders in Kittitas County say efforts to recall the commissioners are a waste of time.
"What's ironic is two of people he is trying to recall are up for election in 2008," said Dr. Mathew Manweller, Chairman of the Kittitas GOP. "All he would end up doing is shortening their term by a handful of months. What's the point. And is it worth the expense."
Washington has one of the strictest recall laws in the country. A judge will now decide their fate.
