Russell Vehicular Homicide Trial Delayed in Kelso

KELSO, Wash. - Jury selection for the trial of former fugitive Frederick Russell was postponed today in Kelso because his lawyer is ill.

He's charged with vehicular homicide and assault for a drunken driving crash six years ago that killed three WSU students, including one from Wapato, and injured three others on the Pullman-Moscow highway. He fled the country and was caught in Ireland.

The 29-year-old faces 10 to 14 years in prison if convicted. He was charged in Whitman County but the trial was moved to Western Washington because of news coverage about the crash and the international search for the fugitive.

He was on the U.S. marshals' most-wanted list before he was caught two years ago in Dublin.
